Inpatient teaching services include low- and high-risk obstetrics, benign gynecology, gynecologic oncology, female pelvic medicine and reproductive surgery, and reproductive endocrinology.
The inpatient teaching service includes patients from the OB/Gyn Center and GHS Emergency Department, as well as patients from private practices of the full-time private-practice medical staff. The patients are admitted to the GHS Women’s Hospital, which includes several units: Family Birthplace, Womens Specialty, Family Beginnings, Gynecologic Oncology, and Women’s Surgery. Resident physicians are also directly involved in the care of private practice gynecologic and obstetrics patients.
The outpatient services provided by the OB/Gyn residents provide care to a broad spectrum of patients. Residents see patients at the OB/Gyn Center, and are responsible for approximately 23,000 patient visits per year. Additionally, residents assist with patient care in the outpatient setting in all of the subspecialties mentioned above.
