The Children’s Hospital Division of Academics & Research
The Division of Academics and Research of The Children’s Hospital has been established to support both the teaching and training activities in Pediatrics (undergraduate, graduate and continuing education for trainees in medicine and related disciplines) and research and scholarly activity.
We are starting as a small group whose primary goal is to support both the faculty and the trainees internally in the department and to serve as a link to the teaching and research resources that are being developed at the central level in the GHS Health Sciences Center.
We recognize that faculty members are very busy meeting their clinical responsibilities and we aim to assist them wherever we can in providing effective teaching for our trainees and to enable those with an interest in research and publication to expand their activities in that area. This is an exciting time of change as the academic focus grows at GHS and there are expectations for each Department to enhance its academic profile.
This website will serve as an informational hub for faculty and trainees with links to information and activities across the system. We welcome your input regarding contact you would like to see here as well as helpful links and other improvements.
Pediatric Residency Program
The Greenville Health System pediatric program is committed to providing a unique training experience in an outstanding environment. Our goal is to provide top-notch clinical training, supplemented with opportunities for academic growth and achievement as well as a strong sense of community involvement. GHS is a large network of hospitals and medical offices serving the needs of 70% of patients in the upstate region of South Carolina. Children’s Hospital provides the vast majority of inpatient care for the children of this region, while the Children’s Hospital Outpatient Center houses the sub-specialty pediatric practices that serve upstate South Carolina and beyond.
GHS also serves as the upstate campus for the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. We feel strongly that this combination of community-centered care with a strong academic focus will ensure that our trainees are well prepared for a variety of career choices, including community-based pediatrics, academic general pediatrics or subspecialty training.
