Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) are advanced practice nurses who specialize in anesthesia care. With master’s or doctorate level preparation, CRNAs safely provide millions of anesthetics to patients each year.
GHS Health Sciences Center has partnered with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine to train nurse anesthetist students at six of its sites in Upstate South Carolina. With an integrated and innovative curriculum, our 27-month Master’s of Nurse Anesthesia program comprises didactic courses and clinical experience.
Integration of clinical training with coursework is a key feature of the program. Students begin a supervised clinical experience in the first semester. Clinical experience includes a minimum of 550 anesthesia cases covering a variety of general and regional anesthetics.
