The goal of the Greenville Health System/University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville Surgry Critical Care fellowship is to not only prepare you to become an excellent clinical critical care surgeon but also develop you into a leader in your future hospital who can institute change. Our philosophy is to treat the fellow as a junior partner that we mentor while exposing them to a wide range of surgical pathology and advanced critical care management including ECMO. While we have a large clinical volume, we believe that it is important for the fellow to study, work on quality improvement projects, run conferences and perform research. To ensure the fellow has time for these non-clinical pursuits, we have structured the clinical learning environment to not overwhelm the fellow with patients by capping the amount seen on morning rounds and eliminating night call while on the ICU service. When you graduate from our program you will have the fund of knowledge, technical skills, and confidence to use them in any surgery critical care practice.
