Description of internship position:
Interns will be introduced to the basic mission and functions of an Institutional Review Board within a healthcare setting. Students will have an opportunity to acquire a broad understanding of federal and state research regulations. Students will be introduced to a variety of concepts including human research, protections for patients, conflicts of interest, research education and guidance, research ethics, and much more.Intern will acquire an understanding of federal research regulations.Intern will learn about the eIRB and the purpose of Human Protection Research.Intern will acquire skills associated with research administration.
Intern will attend and participate in regular IRB meetings with Legal Counsel, Office of Sponsored Program and Clinical Trials Office.Intern will have an opportunity to participate in the monthly GHS Research Education Series.With supervision, intern will assist department in facilitating new/revise existing institutional and departmental research policies and procedures.Discussion and engagement before, during and after meetings.Development/revision of materials/presentations.
