Prior to submitting the Intern Position Request Form, departments should be able to clearly describe the internship opportunity. The mission or purpose of the internship should mirror your department’s mission and purpose but expressed as an opportunity to learn. Similarly, the goals and objectives should address the scope of the intern’s responsibilities but expressed as how the student benefits from the internship experience.
- A goal will indicate what the intern will gain from the experience: knowledge, skills or abilities.
- The objective will define tasks, assignments or responsibilities that will help the student achieve the stated goal.
- The assessment will define how you will evaluate whether the student has met the objective or how well the student has met the objective.
Department Submits The Request Form
The Sponsoring Department will need to complete the Intern Position Request form. The Intern Position Request form will be completed once for each unique internship position.
Each submitted application will remain on file. Should you be interested in hosting an intern in the future, we would make any necessary revisions and re-announce your opportunity on the Announcements page.
Intern Position Is Announced
If the Sponsoring Department has not already identified an intern, the internship opportunity will be listed on the Announcements page for students to review and apply to.
Students will be applying directly to your internship opportunity. Student applications will be emailed to the department and will include the student’s contact information, university/degree program information, references and a link to the student’s resume. Cover letters, unofficial transcripts and letters of references can also be collected if the department wishes to include these requirements.
Department Selects An Intern
The Sponsoring Department will review applications and interview candidates. Upon identifying an intern, please notify Bradley Hobbs so that Student Services may begin the onboarding process.
Assess The Internship
Upon completion of the internship, Student Services will email evaluations to both the intern and supervisor.
