Dr. Marjorie Jenkins has been selected to serve as the dean of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville. Jenkins comes to South Carolina from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Office of Women’s Health where she has been the director of medical initiatives and scientific engagement. Dr. Jenkins also served as graduate research program director for Johns Hopkins University School of Education, professor of internal medicine and associate dean for Women in Health and Science at Texas Tech University’s Health Science Center, and director and chief scientific officer at Texas Tech’s Laura Bush Institute for Women’s Health.
Prior to her work in academia, Dr. Jenkins was a primary care physician, and before entering medical school worked for Eastman Kodak Company as a chemical engineer. She received a bachelor’s in chemical engineering from Tennessee Technological University, an MD from East Tennessee State University and a master’s in education in the health professions from Johns Hopkins University.
