All of our residents become members of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Every year, our second-year residents participate in a Quality Improvement (QI) project initiative, guided by faculty mentors. Our residents have presented the results of their QI projects at the South Carolina chapter meeting of the American Academy of Pediatrics and at the Association of Pediatric Program Directors national meeting. Our residents have frequently been recognized for their outstanding work by winning awards for their projects at the annual SC AAP meeting.
We recently graduated the chair of the resident section of the SC AAP and Robin LaCroix, MD, of our infectious disease division recently completed her term as president of the organization. Our residents have contributed to several publications over the past few years, and several have had presentations accepted at local and national meetings.
