Health Sciences Center Office of Innovation


Turning novel ideas into breakthrough innovations that advance patient care and improve the health of the community. The Health Sciences Center at Prisma Health – Upstate’s Office of Innovation was founded in 2017 and is dedicated to improving the health of upstate South Carolina and beyond by facilitating the development, implementation and use of medical and healthcare delivery advancements.

As the Health Sciences Center’s technology transfer office, the Office of Innovation identifies, assesses and markets commercially viable technology developed by Prisma Health – Upstate physicians, faculty and staff. Additionally, the Office of Innovation manages the development of industry collaborations and assists in attracting new businesses and jobs to the region.

The Office of Innovation has two primary functions:

Business Development and Technology Transfer

Manage the development of industry collaborations and initiatives to benefit patients and generate new services, while supporting job growth in upstate South Carolina. Additionally, to facilitate the development and commercialization of intellectual property to generate future licensing revenue
